I get excited about studying words and their meaning.
We can say words so flippantly without truly knowing what they mean, but when you do, it brings such a depth of understanding that can change you.
I LOVE that there is power in the prefix "re-".
“Re” implies that you once had it and you can get it back and do it again! That’s hope and motivation right there!!
So let’s see what “Restoring Health” actually means.
The prefix “re” refers to:
again; again in a different way; back to how something was before; repetition.
“Restoring” refers to the act of bringing something back to its original or intended state. It implies repairing; renewing; or returning something to its former condition.
Here are a few of Restoring’s root word definitions:
“Shub”
Recover; refresh; relieve; render; repent; rescue.
“Histemi”
Means to abide; appoint; bring; continue; covenant; establish; hold up; lay; present; set (up); stand.
“Apodidomi”
Means to give away, to give again.
Here are a few of Health’s root word definitions:
“Shalom”
means to be safe, peace (in mind, body or estate)
“Marpe”
means healing, cure, or soundness.
“Tasha”
means to be open, wide or free.
“Rapha”
means to mend (by stitching) to cure.
“Yeshua”
means deliverance; aid; victory; prosperity.
“Arak”
means to draw out, lengthen.
“Arukah”
means wholeness; health; made up; perfected.
“Soteria”
means to rescue, to deliver.
“Sozo”
Saved, healed, delivered.
So you can see that restoring health encompasses so much more and brings depth. Sometimes using another word to describe the word can bring more connection and personal relevance. Relevance then brings motivation for your application.
I suggest that you take the words Restoring Health and replace them with one of their meanings, any that stood out for you.
For me:
Restoring (give away) Health (peace).
You might be saying this sounds all soft and wonderful, but cant apply to you if you’re battling a disease. The reality is that the body is designed to heal and no disease is beyond a Restoring Word and applying foundational principles of health.
